Up here in Swedish Lapland, it’s still possible to head out with your canoe in the wilderness and not meet any roads or people.
This spring Kristien and I took the opportunity to make a weeklong trip, canoeing, fishing and cooking over open fires. Great stuff.
The canoe we used is a wood-and-canvas Guide model which we built ourselves for some years ago at Sjövik FHSK.
Even if it was spring, temperatures weren’t too high, at night even dropping to around zero. That didn’t seem to bother the millions of mosquitos though…luckily we had a lot of wind.
